Baseball's Back

As I sit here typing this blog, the Braves are playing baseball on TV. Sigh.... Life is good! :) Even though the Braves are losing and it'll take a 9th inning rally for them to win, I've enjoyed this evening. I have to watch most games on my computer because we don't get them up here, so it's nice to have a game on TV. Except can I just say that the ESPN announcers are complete morons!

Anyway, I have been telling you about my picture that I got put on canvas. These aren't great pictures because the lighting isn't good. The picture is much more vibrant than it appears, but at least this will give you an idea....

Hope you guys all have a great week!

Wedding Pictures

Greetings from a most exhausted girl here in the north! The wedding is over, and I plan to sleep very well tonight! I was at the church last night until almost 2am finishing creating all the flowers, and I was up until midnight the night before that decorating the cake. So I'm a little tired. But everything turned out well. They liked it all, and it was fun, and another couple is married! Here are some of the pictures.

Here are the bouts and the grandmother corsages.

The bride bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, and pictures of the arrangements I made for the front of the church.

And now here is the cake.

So there you have it! I'll post a new blog again soon but just wanted to share these pictures. Hope you guys have a great weekend!

Monday Musings

Hi everyone! Happy Easter Monday to you all! This is my 100th blog post, which is pretty cool. Originally I thought I would try to have a really cool post for my 100th and be seriously profound or something. Then I decided that was too much pressure, so tonight's blog is going to be a random offering of info that I want to share.

First of all, thanks to all who replied after my last post. I was kidding around - I know many of you read and don't like to or have time to post or whatever, and that is totally fine. Even if no one read my blog, I would still keep it to amuse myself with. :) So no worries - continue reading and commenting as you wish or don't wish, and I'll continue to post my ramblings.

Secondly, I just got an email letting me know that my photo on canvas shipped! I cannot WAIT to see it!! For those that asked, the picture that I sent in to have put on canvas is this one:

I think it will look really cool. It's supposed to arrive on Friday, so I'll let you know how it turns out.

Thirdly, I bought tickets today for the baseball games I am going to next month in Baltimore and DC. I am quite excited to see some baseball and check a few more stadiums off my list! And it'll be cool to spend some time with my mom too! :)

Fourthly, if I come to mind this week, you can pray for me. I am helping a girl who I met at church with her wedding this weekend - doing her cake and flowers and centerpieces on her tables. It's kind of a lot for one person, especially on top of working all week, so pray that all of the details will fall into place and I will have mad creative skills when it comes to putting everything together. I'll be sure and post pictures of everything this weekend. And my reward for all the hard work? Braves baseball, opening night, Sunday evening.....

Fifthly and finally, I thought I'd post another picture of Ellie. She has started sleeping up in Michael's bed for some reason. She still sleeps with me at night, but she likes his bed during the day. It's cute!

Hope everyone had a fantastic Easter! We were taken care of by a family at church who fed us an amazing meal and then we went over to our pastor's house, where I got to have an Easter egg hunt with their kids. Life is good. :) Have a great week and much love from the north!

99

This is my 99th entry on my blog! How cool is that? That's a lot of entries.... I'll have to have some sort of special something on my next entry to commemorate my 100th post. Except I'm not sure if anyone reads my blog still because no one comments anymore. Sad. :( But, even if I'm the only one who reads my blog, I enjoy posting! I just changed the format of my blog. I thought it would be fun to play around with. Do you like the new look?

So here is my post for tonight. It started out snowing this morning, which then turned into rain. It has rained all day and night and is supposed to continue raining tomorrow. To remind myself that the sun does shine and warmth will one day be here again, I edited two of my favorite pictures and thought I'd share them with you...

Ahh, let's have a moment of silence for what is to come in a few months.... :)

I just placed an order to have one of my favorite edited photos printed on canvas. When it arrives, it will look like a painting except for that it will actually be one of my photos. I can't wait to see it! I'll keep you posted....I hope it arrives in the next week or two.

Okay, that's all for now. I'm really tired and plan to go to bed very soon! Have a good night! And yay for March Madness starting tomorrow!!!

On Baseball, God, and Ellie

Hi everyone! I'm so sorry I haven't posted a blog in awhile. It's been a little nutty lately, but I don't want to lose all of my blog readers, so I will try to get better at updating. To make up for it, I shall try to post a lengthy blog. :)

To begin, let's talk about baseball. I love it. What a great game! As I continue in my quest to try to see a game in every major league park, I have been making some plans. Thought I'd share them with you because they're cool. In mid-April, I am flying down to Baltimore, and my mom is flying up. We will meet in that great city, have been offered a place to stay for free, and have a great and fun weekend planned. To start, we are going to spend a day sightseeing in DC. The last time I was there was in seventh or eighth grade, and I think I will appreciate it more now. Then on Sunday, we will be going to a baseball game in the Nationals new ballpark while they play the Braves. I'm gonna enjoy that one! Then on Monday evening, we're going to a Baltimore Orioles game before we fly our separate ways on Tuesday. So in one weekend, I get two parks crossed off the list! For the month of May, another trip is planned. I apologize for the blurry picture below, but check it out....

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I was given 2 tickets to see a Yankees game in their last year in Yankee Stadium. Once again my mom is joining me in this adventure as we will be able to see a game in this historic ballpark. It's going to be a fun spring!

As we look at the beginning of a new week, which will start with the fun of St. Patrick's Day (which is a huge holiday in Boston, thanks to all of the Irish....I have some great socks to wear for the day - thanks Judy!!).... and yet it is also Holy Week, the week where we remember the events that led up to the death of Jesus. I'm always struck by the passage in Philippians 4, where Paul talks about knowing Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death....I've always wanted to know the power of Christ, but sharing in His sufferings? Ummm, no thanks. In Mark 8, Jesus says, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me." We were discussing this passage today in church, and the pastor was telling us about a congregation of people in Africa who sang about following Jesus wherever He went. But where did He go? He went to a cross. And the point of that was not for defeat. It was so that out of the greatest tragedy this world has ever known, in the worst sufferings, in all the wrong and evil that will ever exist being laid on one Man's shoulders, real life could begin. And when we follow Him there, when we share in His sufferings, we can rest in the hope of what He said while He hung there: "IT IS FINISHED."

Indeed. In the midst of the trials and the pain that life can bring, when we are willing to rest at the foot of the cross....to let Him tear away the layers and scabs and mess and brokenness, no matter how painful the process....true life begins, and who He has created us to truly be is free to live. And He who began a good work in us is just getting started! When the day in each of our lives comes where His work is finished, and we get to see Him face to face, how much more thankful will we be that He truly did finish it. Don't let this week pass by lightly. It cost our Savior everything, and yet He willingly paid the price. As we follow Him, it will cost us everything too. But on the flip side of that cost is life....worth everything we lay at His feet.

On a lighter note, I am thankful everyday for the gift God gave me in my cat. She has been a comfort to me in many ways in the almost 4 years that I have had her. She makes me smile, and she reminds me over and over again how loved I am. So I will leave you with this picture of her and wish you all a wonderful week as we worship our Savior together for what He has done. Love you guys!

I'm Cold

Greetings, dear friends! I have been cold all day today! The temperature has been in the 30's, but we have had wind with gusts up to 40 mph. I was at the store earlier and had to work to walk forward to my car. Lovely. I hope you all enjoy the sunshine and warm weather of the south. Enjoy it for me!

This past week was kind of crazy, and of course we had Daylight's Savings time that began today. I am not a fan, especially since I had to get up early to play at church this morning. And because the sun is up longer, it makes me think it's not as late as it is. But, life is good! I am looking forward to a good night's sleep and a great week. I'll post a blog soon with some thoughts and ponderings.....perhaps tomorrow! For now, I leave you with a picture of me and my favorite Pa. Have a great week!

A Birthday Party

So we had our joint 30th birthday party yesterday, and it was a ton of fun. Thank you so much to those of you who contributed to making the event happen and to everyone who came out to celebrate 30 years of life! I had so much fun seeing so many people and getting the chance to catch up. I will post more on my ponderings of the day in the next few days, but for now I thought I'd share some of my favorite pictures of the day.
Pictures of friends and family...

Here are a couple of birthday cake pictures...

Thanks again for everything! I'll post more soon!
